Utah’s Medigap birthday rule

An annual opportunity for existing Utah Medicare Supplement policyholders.

When the window opens

Under Utah Insurance Department Bulletin 2025-5, effective May 7, 2025, the annual election period starts on your birthday and ends 60 days later.

What can change

You can choose an eligible plan of equal or lesser benefit value offered by your current insurer without new health underwriting. The insurer does not have to offer a plan sold by an affiliated company. Your premium can change with the new plan.

What it does not guarantee

This is not a blanket right to switch insurers or move from Medicare Advantage into Medigap. Other enrollment rights may apply to your situation. Bring your current policy and birthday so the available options can be checked.
